Growing older and needing help is scary. Not having the funds to get the care you need is a tragedy. Many of our seniors have planned and saved for their golden years but life happens. Illness, economy, and fraud are some of the factors that can lead to the depletion of a person’s safety net. The state has a Medicaid program available to help, if you can find a place willing to accept Medicaid.
St. Andrew’s Place is the only regular assisted living in Clallam County willing to accept Medicaid. The problem: Medicaid does not fully cover the costs of providing housing and services. 63% of our residents are on Medicaid and the percentage is growing. We need your help providing for our seniors. The state’s reimbursement rate is 55% of the cost of providing housing and services. No organization can thrive by being grossly being underpaid. The state Governor and Legislators are in denial of the need of assisted living accepting Medicaid. Our seniors need help and a safe place to live. Will you help us?
St. Andrew’s annual shining light campaign is looking for a few good (or 100 plus) people willing to make a monthly commitment to help us provide for our low income seniors living at St. Andrew’s Place. With your help, we can make this year a little brighter.
Will you support St. Andrew’s Place and be the bright light for seniors by donating to our Shining Light fundraiser? Join me in making a monthly commitment to donate for one year whether that is $100 a month or as low as $10 a month ~ every bit helps. Without St. Andrew’s Place, our low income seniors would either be living in a nursing home (if they can find one) or have to move out of the area.
Please help us provide the care, housing and help our seniors need, so our seniors can stay in their community.
Thank-you,
Laura Dodd, Administrator
